Soccer and Transit are More Fun Together
Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien and local business leaders joined Grow Smart on the bus March 11th to get breakfast at the Modern Diner, followed by a tour of the soon-to-open Centreville Bank Stadium, home of the professional soccer club RIFC.
The “Modern”, right by the stadium, is the only surviving 1930’s era Sterling Streamliner diner resembling a high-speed train of its day.
In addition to the mayor, our crew included Dan Sullivan, Executive Chairman of Pawtucket-based Collette Vacations, Gaetan Kashala, Executive Director of the business-led Pawtucket Foundation and Jason Pezzullo, Pawtucket’s Director of Commerce.
The sold-out home opener at The Stadium at Centreville Bank Stadium is this weekend, Saturday, May 3 at 4 p.m. vs. San Antonio FC.
For those with tickets on Saturday, or those who’ll be attending future games, what’s the best way to get there? The smart money is on transit – just look how much fun we were having!
Plan your transit route easily HERE.
The stadium property will also have limited parking on-site, which will be reserved for season ticket holders. Then there’s a network of 16 other lots within about a mile of the stadium, with most costing $20 – $30 if paid in advance.
