Explore city neighborhoods on foot during Jane’s Walk, a global weekend festival of walking conversations the first weekend of May every year, inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. These interactive walks are led by local residents and community activists who share stories and ask questions that get people thinking, talking, and connecting with each other.
Jane’s Walks are free, and anyone can participate! Wear comfortable shoes, meet your walk leader in the designated meeting spot, and prepare for a lively discussion.
Currently there are Jane’s Walk Rhode Island programs in Providence and Aquidneck Island. More about each program below (and info for starting one in your city or town!).
Are you interested in starting a Jane’s Walk program in your Rhode Island city or town?
If so, reach out to Grow Smart RI to join our Jane’s Walk RI network. We’ll share some helpful tips and tools to start you off, and highlight your program in our communications to help grow your community of walkers!
